Na kopčeku

Where life moves slower.

About Us – On the hill

Na kopčeku is a place where family, farm, and ordinary life meet, just as they really are.A family with three children decided to slow down, move closer to nature, and build something that makes sense – step by step, with both hands and mind.
On the farm, bulls and bees are raised, vegetables are grown, and an old house on the hill is being renovated. This is not a perfect catalogue-style farm life. This is real life – with dirty shoes, mud, children’s laughter, tiredness, and joy in the little things.
There is a belief that the environment people live in shapes them and their children. That animals teach empathy. That nature calms the mind before it can even understand why.And that ordinary days can be extraordinary when given space.
Na kopčeku is not just about the farm.It is about returning to the essentials, about family, about the relationship with nature, and about seeking balance in today’s fast-paced world.

What animals do we have?

Bees

Bees have been part of the Farm on the Hill for the second year now, slowly becoming an inseparable part of its rhythm and character. Their presence changes the way the land feels: the soft hum in the air, the gentle movement around flowers, and the quiet order of the hive bring a new layer of life to the farm. They are a lesson in patience and humility. Learning never stops. Every season, every hive inspection, and every change in weather reveals something new about how bees live, communicate, and adapt. There is constant observation, searching for balance, and accepting that beekeeping is a long journey, not a quick destination.

It is not about having all the answers right away, but about asking the right questions – and listening. The bees respond to the landscape, to the flowers that bloom, to the weather, and to the care they receive. Their health reflects the health of the whole environment. Watching them encourages a slower pace, a willingness to observe small details, and an openness to being guided by nature rather than trying to control it.

There is no rush for yields. Honey, wax, and other gifts from the hive are seen as a bonus, not the main goal. Understanding, stability, and an environment in which bees can thrive are more important. This means planting diverse flowers, protecting wild corners, and respecting the natural rhythm of the seasons. When time is given to things, results come naturally. Stronger colonies, richer pollination of orchards and gardens, and a deeper connection to the land grow slowly, year after year, as the bees and the farm learn to belong to one another.

Cattle

At the Farm on the Hill, Highland cattle are raised alongside crossbreeds of beef breeds Limousin and Charolais. All animals stay outdoors all year round, with access to their own shelter that provides protection and a place to rest.

This way of farming suits them. The animals naturally choose where and how they spend their time – whether in open space or in a sheltered, dry spot. They are not shut in where they do not want to be, and they are not forced into a routine that is unnatural to them.

Highland cattle are naturally adapted to outdoor conditions, and comfort in open space is natural for them.Limousin and Charolais crossbreeds have different physical needs, but with suitable shelter, proper care, and enough space, this way of farming suits them just as well.
The goal is not to manage the animals according to a calendar or human expectations. The goal is to respect their needs and behavior.
